Q1 CSA Learners of Merit Awards!

We held our first CSA Learners of Merit Awards Ceremony on Friday, October 27, 2023. Five categories are awarded each quarter, with nominations being made by CSA facilitators, and include Silent Scholar, Leader, Academian, Helping Hands, and Tolerance Ambassador.

The Silent Scholar works diligently, stays focused and on task, and excels at school even when it’s challenging. This person is willing to fight for what they desire and go beyond their comfort zone to seek out resources and solutions others would never try to find. There is one Silent Scholar per grade.

  • Congratulations to Parker Bailey for being the Q1 Silent Scholar for 6th grade! The 6th-grade nominations were Parker Bailey, Trevor Baumann, and Trevor Fortin.
  • Congratulations to Max Lundberg for being the Q1 Silent Scholar for 7th grade! The nominations for 7th grade were Alaiyna Kronser and Max Lundberg.
  • Congratulations to Calvin Carter for being the 8th grade Q1 Silent Scholar! The 8th graders nominated were Brooklyn Parr and Calvin Carter.

The Leader award is given to one learner across the grade levels, and Leader nominees take the lead when appropriate, guide learners to follow expectations, and lead by doing. This is a person with integrity, self-awareness, flexibility to adapt to unique or challenging circumstances, influence, empathy, courage, and respect.

  • Congratulations to our Q1 Leader, Stephen Baker! The Q1 nominations for Leader were Jack Shields (6), Ty Cridlebaugh (6), Genevieve Biviano (6), Alivia Miller (7), Lindsey Wilhelm (7), Alaiyna Kronser (7), Jackson Turner (7), Noah Bress (7), Stephen Baker (7), Rickey Butcher (7), and Landan Benoit (7).

The Academian award is awarded to a learner in each grade, and this person is someone who completes work with excellence, does well, and earns high grades. Characteristics of an Academian are a genuine sense of curiosity and wonder, thirst for discovery, tenacity, and open-mindedness to different value systems and cultural norms. Learners display good critical thinking and knowledge management skills and can decompose and synthesize data, draw lines, and relate content to context.

  • Congratulations to Genevieve Biviano for being our Q1 6th grade Academian! The 6th-grade nominations were Jameson Gass and Genevieve Biviano.
  • Congratulations to William Fox for being our Q1 7th-grade Academian! Nominations for 7th grade were Lindsey Wilhelm, Alivia Miller, Zach Sciuto, Luke Kessman, and William Fox.
  • The 8th grade Academian for Q1 is Dalik Gorman! Congratulations! The nominations for 8th grade included Katia Schillings, Daniel Bercich, Calvin Carter, Brooklyn Parr, Dalik Gorman, Gavin Tombre, Jesse Bolling, and Ariana Larson.

Helping Hands nominees are learners who are willing to help out at any time, no matter the situation. Someone with Helping Hands is ​​compassionate, joyful, caring, and possesses a deep sense of community. We have one learner in each grade level who is honored with this award.

  • Congratulations to AC Johnson for being our Helping Hands awardee for Q1! Grade 6 nominees were Jude Riggs, Gabriel Tidwell, AC Johnson, Liam Purviance, and Devon Slaton.
  • Congratulations to Luke Millington on your Helping Hands award for Q1! Nominated in 7th grade was Tori Wilderer, Stephen Baker, Luke Millington, Zach Sciuto, Noah Bress, Yerik Anisimov, Jackson Turner, Rickey Butcher, and Caleb Young.
  • The Helping Hands 8th grader for Q1 is Harlow Medina! Congratulations! Jesse Bolling and Harlow Medina were the nominees in 8th grade.

There is one CSA Tolerance Ambassador honored each quarter who exhibits patience with all humans regardless of their differences, is forgiving of others’ mistakes (even if they happen over and over), listens carefully, and treats others with dignity and respect. This person also influences others to be more tolerant through actions or respectful words.

Congratulations to Lindsey Wilhelm for being honored as the CSA Tolerance Ambassador in Q1! The nominees in Q1 for Tolerance Ambassador were Alivia Miller (7), Genevieve Biviano (6), Sanare Karuru (6), Lenin Santana-Meza (8), Jameson Gass (6), and Lindsey Wilhelm (7).

Our CSA Wall of Fame outside of the Makery will be updated in the coming days with the Q1 Learners of Merit.
