A Message from the Director

Greetings, Colorado SKIES Family & Friends!

The big day we have all been waiting for is here! Our official ground-breaking ceremony for our permanent building is on Friday, December 13! We have a wonderful event planned and have arranged it for the end of the school session so that as many families as possible can attend. Learners will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. and make their way over to Blue Skies Gallery Exploration of Flight to meet up with families. There will be a short welcome, and then we will walk over to the site for the ground-breaking ceremony, followed by refreshments and closing comments at the Exploration of Flight Gallery. Our learners will be sharing their Presentations of Learning just concluded in November, informing visitors about the projects at CSA. We sincerely hope all of our families can attend.

Please be sure to reserve your space for next year by filling out the re-enrollment information that was sent via SchoolMint. The window is December 1-31. The number of learners who re-enroll for the 2020-21 academic year will determine the number of seats available for open enrollment for those who are not a part of CSA yet. Per CSA’s enrollment policy, any existing learner who does not re-enroll on or before December 31 will enroll through the open-enrollment process. Open enrollment occurs from January 15-31. So sign up for your seat now!

The survey to parents/guardians about next year’s Friday schedule was sent as a Google survey, which was not easily accessible to all. It is also posted on the CSA Family Connections Facebook page. If you would like to provide input, please feel free to access the survey on the Facebook page. Future surveys will be set up in a different, easily accessible format.

Our learners’ most recent projects will be culminating in another Presentation of Learning in mid-January. The facilitators have seen a tremendous difference in learners’ abilities to formulate their ideas, design their projects, explore different questions, and prepare a presentation.  Thus, it makes sense to include the current project in a learner’s Report of Progress, a narrative report card, in addition to grades. Thus, all of you can look forward to a Report of Progress for your learner in mid-January.  More information will be forthcoming as we solidify the Presentation of Learning date.

It is a great and exciting time to be a part of CSA!

Warmest regards,

Suzanne Acheson
School Director
