JOB TITLE: Care Team
REPORTS TO: School Director
CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the School Director/Leadership Resident, the Care Team is an essential part of providing our learners with social and emotional support. The Care Team works closely and assists Facilitators in planning and implementing learning experiences that promote intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development in a safe and healthy environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Model appropriate language, interactions, and positive behavior
  • Reinforce the learning concepts provided by the Facilitator
  • Assist the Facilitator in preparing and incorporating learning activities
  • Support and encourage learners individually or in groups to focus on activities or assignments
  • Provide individual support as needed to direct learner back to the group
  • Ensure safety at all times through supervising and monitoring learner interactions
  • Help to maintain a clean, safe and organized learning environment
  • Routinely check classroom equipment and materials and ensure repairs are completed
  • Exhibit genuine caring, friendly, patient and nurturing attitude to all learners
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide ongoing support and actively collaborate with School Director and employees to ensure that the mission, vision, values and philosophy of the Organization is clearly understood and carried out
  • Represent in a positive and professional manner in all interactions and communications.
  • Follow and actively participate in development of Schools guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development activities provided by the Schools and self-selected professional growth activities
  • Perform other responsibilities as defined by School Director
  • Ability to work well and deal tactfully with administrators, employees, parents, learners and the public

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Communicating with others to exchange information. (In Person/Telephone/Computer)
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions.
  • Vehicle operation for transportation purposes between worksites.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • May encounter outdoor elements (high (>90)/low (<60) temperatures, precipitation and/or wind.
  • Ability to work in situations involving the need to make informed and quick decisions.
  • Ability to supervise/manage workers and delegate as needed in project management situations.
  • Reading detailed documentation and analyzing data sets.
  • Writing professionally both by hand and utilizing computer software.
  • Speak in public settings.
  • Dealing and navigating professionally through high-stress situations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum requirements are graduation from High School or GED
  • Experience with an education setting and/or real world experience in being non-traditional, flexible, open minded, and collaborative
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task.
  • Ability to cooperate successfully as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated capability to maintain effective relationships in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness
  • Thrive in a collaborative, team based and fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of School’s safety rules and habits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of learners and their records
  • Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective working relationships with learners, learners with special needs, parents, facilitators, care team, and administration
  • Demonstrate standards of moral character and behavior to serve as an effective role model for learners
  • Perform physical activities, which may include frequent standing, walking, bending, and/or lifting
