Message from Directors Coryell and Motley

Dear Colorado SKIES Academy Families,

Your learner received their MAP® Growth Family Report last week, which summarizes how your child is performing academically, as measured by the most recent MAP Growth test your child has taken. MAP Growth tests are unique and adapt to your child’s responses to measure your child’s knowledge. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. These results will provide a more complete picture of where your child is on their learning journey—regardless of whether they are on, above, or below their grade level. Your child’s MAP Growth results are represented as RIT scores. RIT scores have the same meaning across grade levels. This stable scale allows facilitators to accurately measure each student’s academic growth throughout the school year and over time. For more information about MAP Growth, visit NWEA.org/familytoolkit.

A few more important updates below:

  • CURRENT CSA families, please complete this Intent to Return/Not Return form by December 31, 2023.
  • Starting in January, we would like to start Speed, Agility, and Quickness Training (SAQ-360 POWER) on Tuesdays. We currently have 3 families that have expressed an interest in joining this club, and we need at least 10 learners to participate to begin. Please read more about SAQ-360 POWER here and send an email this week to info@coloradoskiesacademy.org if you’re interested in having your learner participate.

Please read the articles in this week’s message including a reminder of the Presentation of Learning dates for all grade levels this week, information about our new visitor management system, an update from PAC (Parent Action Committee) including details about the Winter Festival Dance on Friday, December 15 from 1:30-3:30 pm, new information about school pictures, upcoming events details, and more.

In gratitude,
Directors Coryell and Motley
