Message from Directors Coryell and Motley

Dear Colorado SKIES Academy Families,

It was a great first week back with 7th and 8th grade presenting the second part of their Presentation of Learning on the Human Body and Rocketry. We hope that you enjoyed seeing the physical models that were created and hearing more about what your child has learned in these projects! If you have any pictures that you’d like to share, please send them to info@coloradoskiesacademy.org.

Please be aware that learners can wear costumes on Tuesday, October 31st, but they must still comply with the CSA dress code policy. No masks or hoods can be worn in the building, and the 4Bs need to be covered. Face paint is allowed, and please don’t bring any weapons, or depictions of weapons, to school. If you have any questions or need clarification, please email info@coloradoskiesacademy.org.

We love having Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck at CSA to help with community building and offering yummy drinks! Due to a non-compete agreement with CCSD Food Services, we have to move the truck’s visits to Friday afternoons. Please look at our community calendar to see when they will be here. Thank you so much for supporting the many community-building efforts that are offered to learners and families!

A few reminders about after-school clubs:

  • Monday– Cooking Club with Ms. Uta still has spots remaining. Please see her Q2 update here.
  • Wednesday- Learn how to play the Scottish Tenor Drum and flourish with Ms. Gispan. Equipment needed includes: a drum practice pad and tenor mallets with ties. No kilts are required! 🙂 Help Ms. Gispan provide drums for learners here!
  • ThursdayAthletic Development with Coach Cronin. Interested learners, please complete this form and return it to Coach Cronin.
  • FridayKnitting and Crocheting Club is from 1:15-2:30 p.m. with the wonderful parent volunteer, Ms. Wilhelm. Learners can also join the CSA Girls Club on Friday. This is where our amazing girls at CSA come together to encourage and empower each other without regard to race, ethnicity, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental abilities, or point of view. We know with certainty that our shared passion for aviation transcends any differences among us. If learners need to stay until 5:00 p.m., they can go to Movie Club at 2:30 p.m.
  • We will be sending emails this week to families letting them know how many punches are remaining. If you need to purchase more please do so here.

Please take a moment to read the articles in this week’s message including updated information about the weekly visits to Exploration of Flight, a SKIES Athletic Development update from Coach Cronin, and information about upcoming events.

In gratitude,
Directors Coryell and Motley
