Jason Brockman has eight years of experience in social studies education. He began teaching American history at Columbia College in Denver and continued his growth by working as an educational assistant at STEM Academy in Greenwood Village. He went on to instruct 8th grade humanities at Omar D. Blair Charter School in Denver and spent three years developing and instructing 6th, 8th, and Capstone at Parker Performing Arts School. Jason’s skill with learners was recognized with Apple Award nominations and with his designation as a school representative. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with an honors BA in history and political science, and he earned his MA in history from Colorado State University. Using his knowledge of history, he worked for many years as an archivist for the State of Colorado, which gave him access to a variety of primary sources that he looks forward to sharing with your learner. With his background in sales, design, and marketing, Jason has the tools to elicit “buy-in” from your learners and to instruct them in presentations and speech skills. He looks forward to sharing his experience and enthusiasm with your child in this exciting new learning environment.
What is it about Colorado SKIES Academy that attracted you to pursue working there?
Working with learners who will be our nation’s international and interstellar ambassadors is an amazing honor. It’s a privilege facilitating them to connect to our collective historic humanity, honor our journey, and feel empathy for those who came before us. Most importantly, I’m grateful to instill in them the responsibility to promote our essential civic virtues locally, abroad, and possibly on other planets.
What would learners be surprised to know about you?
I have designed cowboy costumes and clothing for Miley Cyrus, Toby Keith, Vince Vaughn, Temple Grandin, Pee-wee Herman, Macklemore, television’s most famous space explorer William Shatner, and many others.
