Welcome to the 2024-25 School Year

The first day of school for CSA 6th graders is Monday, August 12th, from 8 am-12 pm. 7th and 8th graders join 6th grade on Tuesday, August 13th, for a full day from 8 am-3 pm.

New Family Orientation: Thursday, August 8th from 5 pm-7 pm

Starting a new school year or school can be a stressful experience, and we want to reduce the stress as much as possible. To assist with the transition, we are providing a mandatory New Learner Orientation session from 5:00-7:00 pm for all incoming learners and their families to make sure everyone feels comfortable walking in on the first day of school.

The first part of the afternoon focuses on understanding the family guidebook, and the second part focuses on understanding how project-based learning works for learners who’ve never experienced it. We will discuss our grading policies and even practice using a rubric with a model project that YOU get to do! We understand that families are busy, but please make this day a priority! You will get so many questions answered and feel ready to hit the ground running on the first day of school.

Back to School Block Party: Friday, August 9th, from 5 pm-7 pm

New and returning families will rotate through stations to complete all of the necessary paperwork and procedures to start the year off on the right foot. DR Photo will be at school to take learner pictures for student ids! Learners will pick up their squadron assignments, meet their facilitators, and complete other important tasks needed for the start of the school year.

Parents will sign up for volunteer opportunities with our Parent Action Committee (PAC) and School Accountability Committee (SAC) or even join our Board! They will also:

  • Complete their registration with Raptor to make visitor check-in run more smoothly throughout the year
  • Set up student accounts with Titan for Health & Nutrition
  • Set up, if needed, and log in to the Parent Portal to ensure everything is running smoothly
  • Sign agreements
  • Pay learner fees if needed
  • Meet the nurse and fill out any required medication forms and/or drop off medications.
  • Pick up the learner’s car line number and map
  • Check out our Spirit Wear store on our website

To avoid traffic backups on County Line Road, please use the map below to drop off and pick up learners during the car line.

CSA map

Entry: From E. County Line Road, turn North onto S. Warren Court and then East (right) on Isbill Drive. Drive past the entrance to the Wings Over the Rockies parking lot and turn left into the CSA driveway. Drive around the circle to the front of the building to drop off or pick up your learner(s). CSA is required to keep a fire lane open through our parking lot at all times. As a result, cars may enter the CSA parking lot no earlier than 15 min prior to dismissal.

Exit: from the CSA parking lot, turn right on Isbill and then left onto Warren Court.

During afternoon dismissal, please have your carpool number(s) displayed in your front window hanging from the mirror or on the driver’s side. This will enable us to get the correct learners outside quickly (as long as they’re paying attention in class!).

Getting Informed

  • CSA Carpool Signup
  • CSA Information Management Systems:
    • CSA will be using PowerSchool for the Student Information System (grades, attendance, class schedule, etc.) and the Canvas Learning Management System (course materials, calendars, communication tools, grades, etc.).
    • More information will be available at the Back to School Block Party on August 9th.
  • Visiting CSA (Full Visitor Policy can be found here)
    • To ensure the least disruption to the educational process and the highest and best parent/facilitator communications, the following procedures will be applicable to all parent visits to a learner’s classroom:
      • The visitor must check into the office to make his/her presence in the building known and must indicate the purpose of the visit.
      • 48-hour notice is preferred so the facilitator can be notified of the parent’s visit.
      • Every effort will be made to accommodate the requested visit. However, the request may be denied, and another date suggested in the event the date and time of the visit conflicts with scheduled or proposed exams, field trips, special projects or other school events which could be disrupted by the inclusion of an outside visitor.
      • Visits to classroom activities normally should be limited to 20 minutes, but no more than one class period. This may be extended under exceptional, unusual, or emergency circumstances. Additionally, visits on successive or continuous days may be denied unless unusual, exceptional, or emergency circumstances dictate the appropriateness of such visits.
    • Visitors are always welcome at Colorado SKIES Academy. CSA uses Raptor School Check-In for its Visitor and Volunteer Management System. To be allowed entrance to CSA, you will need to present a valid State-issued ID. The ID will be run through the School Check-In system, and a badge will be printed that you must always wear while in the building. Visitors and Volunteers must enter through the double doors at the main entrance near the Exploratorium.
    • Visitors must remove their hats when they enter the building for security reasons so that all visitors can be identified with our security cameras. If you are picking up a learner before dismissal (before 3:00 p.m.), please check in at the Main Office. The front desk will call the necessary classroom for the learners to be dismissed. Learners will be called out of the classroom when parents have arrived and not prior. Please allow enough time for your learner to pack up. If you are leaving an item for your learner (lunch, Chromebook, etc.), please leave it at the front desk. CSA staff will ensure that the learner receives it.
  • CSA Learner and Family Handbook (revised to comply with Charter School Institute requirements)

Important Medical Forms for 2024-25 School Year

We are very excited to welcome back our learners to CSA for the 2024-24 school year. We want to make sure all learners with medication needs have the proper forms on file at the beginning of the school year. Please review CSA’s Medication Administration Policy for more details. If your child requires medication while at school, their physician will need to fill out the following forms before the first day of school. These forms can be returned to our school nurse, Brandon Monella, at nurse@coloradoskiesacademy.org or turned in to the health office along with the medication at the Back to School Block Party on August 9th. Below are the medication forms needed.

Middle school students may assume responsibility for bringing to school and administering their own medication, provided they carry only enough for one day and have the “Permission to Self-Carry and Self-Admin Medication” form on file in the school office. Learners using poor judgment in carrying and taking their own medication will have such medication confiscated by school personnel, and parents or guardians will be notified. A structured plan will then be developed for the administration of the medication. Any parent or guardian who chooses not to sign the permission to carry medication form may request that a structured plan be devised for their learner.
