Hello, Colorado SKIES Families and Welcome Back from Fall Break!
While you were relaxing and enjoying your time, our facilitators were putting some refinements on the upcoming projects and have some amazing plans made. Drones in Modern Society, Life on the Moon and Mars, Advanced Rocketry, Reaching for the Stars, and more were refined, ready for our learners. I encourage you to continue to review the weekly newsletters submitted by our facilitators so you can see how the Colorado academic standards are being met within these projects. I also encourage you keep asking those Learner Dinner questions that will provide you with insight into the depth of understanding for your learner.
On Tuesday, October 22nd, Lifetouch will be on campus taking school photos; all learners will have their picture taken to add to PowerSchool. If you would also like to purchase a school picture package from Lifetouch, packets were sent home with learners on Friday, October 19th. Additional packets are available in the Main Office. Once pictures are taken, proofs will be provided to every family with more ordering information for our families.
Please mark your calendars for our first Presentations of Learning on November 8th-15th, when you will experience concepts mastered around the following projects:
- 6th grade: High Altitude Balloons, Weather and the Atmosphere (including launching a weather balloon!)
- 7th grade: Birds, Flight and Ecosystems (including building and flying a DaVinci ornithopter!)
- 8th grade: Soar Up! Glider Project (including their learning from their glider flights!)
Warm regards,
Suzanne Acheson
School Director
