Acting Director Christa’s Message

Dear Colorado SKIES Academy Families,

Thank you to you and your learners as we navigated the schedule changes last week. We received positive feedback from learners and facilitators that they felt supported and confident in their abilities during the transition. Everyone seems very excited as they start on their next grade-level project to end quarter 1. You’ll hear more about the projects in the recurring Week At A Glance communications from your grade-level team of facilitators.

The Parent Action Committee (PAC) kickoff meeting last week was a great success, and it was wonderful to see so many parent’s smiling faces in the building! It’s not too late to join PAC if you’re interested. Please complete this form with your information, and the PAC team will be in touch very soon. Thank you to PAC for the delightful donuts, cupcakes, and bagels that helped to keep the staff fueled during conferences on Thursday and Friday.

We also held the CSA Parent Training at Exploration of Flight (EoF) for the drone and flight simulators to support future learner visits that we hope to start in October. Please read this article for more information about what’s available to our learners at EoF. We are still in need of a few 7th and 8th-grade parents to help during those grade-level visits so please send an email to info@coloradoskiesacademy.org if you’re available to assist.

Friendly reminder to review and initial your learner’s student planner each evening (M- Th). We are still noticing quite a few learners forgetting their lanyards. Your support in reminding learners about the importance of wearing their photo ID lanyard correctly is greatly appreciated. Please take a moment to review these important back-to-school reminders and continue to review our CSA Learner Creed and Community Expectations with your learner. Also, we’ve had some parents and community members inquire about wish lists and ways to donate. Currently, we have 3 main ways to donate, found here.

Please be sure to check the articles below which include an introduction from Nurse Emma and upcoming CSA events including the very important October Count Week, community-building events at CSA, and the many aviation-focused events happening soon at Wings Over the Rockies Exploration of Flight!

Sincerely,
Christa Coryell
CSA Acting Director
