CSA building in the forefront and sunset in the background

Dear Colorado Skies Academy Families,

Friendly reminder that CSA will be closed on Monday, January 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. There will be no school for learners or staff. We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus on Tuesday, January 21.

We value the partnership we share with our families in fostering the growth and success of our learners. As we begin a new semester, we want to encourage open communication and collaboration in supporting your teens during this transformative stage of their lives, by fostering the values below:

Maintaining Strong Family Connections
We encourage families to prioritize time together by engaging in meaningful discussions and shared activities. Creating an open and supportive environment at home helps build trust, enabling teens to navigate their challenges with confidence. Regular family time allows for natural conversations about topics important to your learner’s well-being and future.

Enforcing Consistent Boundaries
Setting clear and consistent rules at home is essential for helping teens understand the balance between independence and responsibility. Whether it’s managing chores, curfews, or technology use, consistent expectations help learners develop the self-discipline and decision-making skills they need to thrive.

Encouraging a Love for Learning
Education is a cornerstone of success. You can support your learner by encouraging creativity, curiosity, and a love for reading. Take time to connect with your learner’s teachers, stay informed about their progress, and celebrate their achievements. Your involvement shows that you value their education and fosters a sense of accountability and motivation.

Navigating the Challenges of Social Media
In recent years, schools across the country have faced an increase in bullying and other negative impacts related to social media. At CSA, we believe it’s essential to have ongoing conversations with your teens about responsible online behavior. Recently, some of our learners have been affected by the negative consequences of social media. Together, we can work to protect our learners and promote a positive and supportive environment both online and offline. We encourage you to talk with your learner about:

  • Think before they post: Discuss what it means to share responsibly and the potential long-term impact of their online presence.
  • Kindness online: Highlight the importance of treating others with respect and empathy, both online and in person. Social media posts, once shared, can easily be accessed and spread, often with unintended consequences.
  • Monitoring social media use: Just as you wouldn’t let your child leave the house without knowing where they are going, we encourage you to stay informed about their digital activities. Monitoring their online behavior can help prevent negative experiences and guide them in making positive choices.

Thank you for being active partners in your learner’s education and well-being. Your dedication to their growth makes a world of difference. If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

In closing, please read through the articles in this week’s Flight Plan which includes updates about our New After School Club Schedule, Mental Health Awareness Month, and potential Scholarship Opportunities

Thank you for being part of the Colorado Skies Academy community!
