Join us at Exploration of Flight on November 23rd from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm for an exciting, hands-on contest where creativity and generosity take flight! As part of our ongoing food drive at Wings Over the Rockies, we’re challenging participants to design and build a model airplane entirely out of non-perishable food items. The Build an Airplane from Food contest will run from 11am-12:30 pm. Judging and announcement of the winner will occur at 1:30 pm.
How It Works:
- Enter the Contest: Participants can enter the contest day of at the front desk. Individuals or teams are allowed. Construction of the aircraft must be done during the allotted time.
- Gather Your Supplies: Participants must use non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal boxes, and other sturdy, unopened food products to create their airplane. Items already donated may be used, but we also encourage participants to bring their own items to use and donate after! You can use tape, string or any other material to help assemble your plane, but the primary materials must be food items.**
- Design & Build: Participants can choose any type of airplane to recreate—be it a classic propeller plane, a jet, or even a fantastical flying machine. Use your imagination and design a plane that looks as realistic or as imaginative as you like!
*No more than $1 off per item per admission ticket. Donations must be made under the Wings Over the Rockies account.
** Participants must bring their own construction materials (i.e. tape, string, etc.). Please be cautious and avoid destroying the goods while constructing.
