Standardized testing is a big part of how schools and students are evaluated each year. While we always want our students to show growth and meet their goals on any test, this year it is even more essential as one of our charter extension benchmarks is specifically tied to seeing continued growth in student achievement demonstrated on both MAP and CMAS testing.
The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) test will be proctored by all Colorado schools in April; more details about that will be coming soon. Our students have already taken the MAPs subject tests in the fall as well as the winter, and have one more opportunity to take those tests in the spring to demonstrate their yearly growth. While we had originally scheduled these tests for early March (to avoid testing burnout around CMAS), we want to be sure our teachers and students have enough time to learn and practice all the new skills for the year before asking them to take this important test. Therefore we will be rescheduling our spring MAP testing for the first couple weeks of May – more details to come soon!
Thank you in advance for understanding the importance of demonstrating our learners’ growth to the Cherry Creek School District, the state of Colorado, and also to each of our learners themselves! We need your help to motivate our students ahead of “testing season,” and look forward to partnering with you to support each and every learner so they can put their best academic foot forward on these important tests.
