SAQ-360 POWER is a new after-school offering at CSA to help develop athleticism in participants!
SAQ-360 = SAQ (Speed/Agility/Quickness), Power (Force and Velocity) strength, and 360-degree multiplanar training. The offering is focused specifically on the field/arena sport athlete with 20 yd and less acceleration/Vmax training largely, relative to speed development, multidirectional speed-agility, and quickness training.
Training in all planes of movement can be often overlooked with exercises being performed heavily in the sagittal plane only (forward and reverse/linear). This type of training can increase performance and training adaptations by increasing neuromuscular recruitment and strengthening antagonist, stabilizer, synergist, and assistant mover muscles. This training can also decrease the chances of injury. Field/Arena sports require a lot of movement in the frontal and transverse planes, making multiplanar training highly effective at improving performance in non-linear-only sports. Our agility training incorporates both Closed-Skills and Open-Skills exercises and drills to mimic the unpredictable movement pattern nature of sports.
Power (Force x Velocity) and acceleration training variables should be specific to the goal. Our Power and Acceleration training incorporates using loaded sprints (hills, resistance apparatuses) and more moderate load strength apparatuses, along with short distance runs and drill/speed dynamic training specific to acceleration body positions.
Learners interested in competing in USATF Track meets this year are encouraged to join to build more speed and become well-rounded in agility, power, and 20 yd and less acceleration training.
Please send an email this week to info@coloradoskiesacademy.org if you’re interested in having your learner participate.
Best,
Mr. Cronin
