We are so excited to introduce a new after school club: Cooking! This club will be hosted on Monday afternoons from 3:45-4:45pm and will be led by Ms. Uta Stelson and Ms. Jennifer Tilghman from our front office.
This unique club will provide students a chance to practice math and learn the fundamentals of cooking from someone with a great deal of experience in the kitchen. As the participating learners will have a chance to eat and (hopefully) enjoy the fruits of their labor, there are a few additional steps in order to participate in this exciting new club:
- For liability reasons, we must have a completed Permission Slip submitted to the front office the Friday before a learner participates for the first time. You can print out the permission form and complete it, or complete it digitally and email it to Ms. Uta.
- As this club has more single-use materials than our typical after school clubs do, we must charge a bit more for this club than for our others. The first time during the quarter that a learner attends the Cooking Club, they will be charged two punches to cover some of these materials costs. For each additional time the learner attends Cooking Club, they will only be charged one punch. (Remember, they will not be admitted unless they have already turned in their Permission Slip!)
Below you will find a list of the foods that the Cooking Club will be making this quarter:
- Jan 23: Chocolate Mug Cakes
- Jan 30: Spaetzle
- Feb 6: Waffles
- Feb 13: Sirniki (Ukrainian/Russian cheese fritters)
- Feb 20: No School (President’s Day)
- Feb 27: Nachos
- March 6: Papusas (El Salvadorian corn & bean fritters)
- March 13: Dessert Burritos
If you have additional questions about this fun new opportunity, please call the school or email Ms. Uta. We look forward to seeing your learner in our Cooking Club soon!
