Colorado SKIES Academy Families,
We look forward to welcoming learners and families back to school and we hope that everyone was able to kick back, relax, and enjoy a fun and restful week.
We are excited to introduce a new article from our CSA Culture and Climate Leader, Ms. K, where CSA’s culture and climate efforts and activities will be highlighted. October’s Culture & Climate Corner can be found here. CSA’s Campus Director, Ms. Motley also has an update about spirit days found here.
As we cruise into the week, there are a lot of exciting things happening at CSA to wrap up Quarter 1 and start Quarter 2:
Parent/guardian training is happening next door at Exploration of Flight to learn about the simulators and aircraft that CSA learners will have access to during their weekly visits. We hope to start learner visits next week but we can’t do that until we have enough volunteers trained to assist during the weekly Friday visits so we hope to see you at a training event this week. Training times are: Monday, October 21, 2024, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2024, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and Friday, October 25, 2024, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please refer to this article for more details.
Presentations of Learning are this week at CSA. 6th graders will present in a Poetry Slam answering the driving question, “How do we communicate the beauty of the cosmos?” 7th grade is answering the question, “How do we create a healthy Martian society?”, and 8th graders will present on Thermodynamics to answer their driving question, “How can we develop innovative products to help people survive extreme temperatures?” Please refer to your grade-level Week At A Glance (WAAG) email for dates and times.
Attention 8th Grade Families: Exciting news! CSA’s first high school transition fair is this Tuesday, October 22nd, from 5:00-7:00 pm in the CSA Village. The second event is the following Tuesday, October 29th, from 5:00-7:00 pm in the CSA Village. Fall Break has us a bit behind in finalizing the details so we will send the list of schools to 8th grade families on Monday, October 21st after confirming with schools.
Please be aware that starting this week, late fees will be implemented for any late pickups from the CSA After School Clubs. The charge will be $5 per minute for any learner picked up after 5:00 pm. This includes any learners that are participating in After School Clubs for free. We want to be sure that families have options available to them to allow for flexibility at CSA while also respecting our staff’s time. The fees charged for late pickups will be used to pay the overtime salary of our after school employees. Also, please remember that any learner remaining at school after 3:15 p.m. will be sent to the after-school club and charged a punch for the day. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring that our school runs smoothly and effectively.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. We’re always here to support you and your learner and are excited to soar to new heights together!
In partnership, Directors Coryell and Motley
