Colorado SKIES Academy Families,
We were so excited to welcome our learners back from the Europe Educational Trip and the Drone Soccer World Cup! It was a pleasure to hear about the amazing experiences in Germany, Amsterdam, Brussels, and London. We were also informed that our school was one of only two middle schools to compete against mostly high school teams, and we placed in the top half of the rankings! It’s hard to believe that we only have a few weeks left in the school year, and it’s amazing to see the growth our learners have experienced as a result of the many hands-on learning opportunities they experienced!
Thank you to our 6th-grade families for your patience and support as we navigated nature’s unpredictable weather last week for the balloon launch. This week starts with SKIES Athletic Development v. South Suburban Track Meet on Monday, May 6th, from 6:15-7:15 pm at Campus Middle School. More information about the event is here. The all-school field trip to Boondocks is on Wednesday, May 8th, and the 6th-grade hot air balloon ride is on Thursday, May 9th, at sunrise (6 am). A friendly reminder that 6th graders won’t have school on Thursday at CSA.
We are so excited to announce CSA’s first-ever Cultural Awareness Festival this Friday, May 10th, from 1 to 3 p.m. Our learners have completely planned and organized this event, and they have worked hard to plan food, dance, and other cultural activities. We hope that your learner will stay at school for an afternoon of fun and celebration! Parents and families are welcome to attend!
CSA Charter Authorization Transfer Next Steps: CSA has now completed all of the required steps to provide the necessary information to CSI staff so they can develop a recommendation to give their board of directors next week. The immediate next step is for CSI staff to provide their draft recommendation to CSA this Friday, May 10th. There will then be a review of the detailed document with their Performance Management board committee on May 14th. The CSI Board will hear the committee recommendation and vote on the school’s transfer application on May 21st.
Please read about future CSA events on our Community Calendar including:
Have a great week!
