Colorado SKIES Academy Families,
It was a shortened school week, but we sure packed in a lot of learning and adventure in four days! The Makery was the hot topic of the week, and the building was buzzing with excitement about the whittling skills learners were practicing with their wooden blocks. The hallway has also been full of activity as groups put the finishing touches on their physical models and visuals for their upcoming Presentation of Learning events, which will happen soon. The 8th graders heard from the Regional Operations Manager at Duncan Aviation, Matt Nelson, about their maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services provided to avionics operators worldwide. He shared detailed information about MRO services that encompass all of the maintenance activities done to ensure the safety and airworthiness of an air transport vehicle. We celebrated our daily facts in honor of Black History Month. Also, we continued to have conversations individually and as a community about the words we use and their impact on ourselves and others.
We’ll be adding the next Presentation of Learning (POL) events to our Community Calendar soon, but please be aware that the next POL for the 6th grade’s sustainability project will take place on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at CSA from 10:00-11:30 am. The 7th grade’s bird project culminates in their Presentation of Learning on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at CSA from 10:00-11:30 am. The drone soccer tournament just
wrapped up for 8th graders earlier this month, so their next POL will come a bit later in March.
Have a great week!
In gratitude,
Directors Coryell and Motley
