` Monday Message - Aug. 15, 2022 - Colorado SKIES Academy

Monday message 08.15.2022

Dear Colorado SKIES Academy Families,

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! Colorado SKIES Academy is celebrating our first day of school on Monday, August 15. Doors open at 7:30 AM for breakfast.

We will begin our day at 8:00 AM with an all-school assembly to introduce our new staff members and be sure all learners get to their assigned Flight Crew classrooms and can collect their schedule for the day. Learners will be released for the afternoon carline starting at 3:30 pm; please review our Pick Up Procedures prior to coming to school for afternoon pick up. If you are still looking for families to carpool with, check out the CSA Carpool Form to be connected with other families.

Whether your learners are returning to CSA or just beginning their journey with us, we are so thankful to have you here, and we are so excited for all that’s in store this school year.

You may be aware of some staff changes here at CSA, and I want to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Katie Dutton, and I am very excited to be the new director for CSA. I’m also very thankful to have our own Meredith Motley stepping into the role of assistant director.

I was born and raised in Colorado, attending college at Colorado School of Mines and Metropolitan State University of Denver. I hold two Bachelor’s Degrees in Physics and Chemistry, with a Master’s in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and an MBA in Project Management. This is my 18th year in education, including 6 years in leadership as a STEM Director and Middle School Principal with American Academy in Douglas County. With the support of my wonderful husband, I am thrilled to join the Colorado SKIES family and use my skills and experience to help our school soar to even higher heights!

Additional Info

Picture DAY is Wednesday, August 17, 2022

Pictures will be taken in the morning. When the proofs are ready, they will be sent home in your learner’s backpack. CSA will be sending home ordering information as soon as we have it ready! In the spring, we will be doing class pictures and will also be rolling out our very first Colorado SKIES Academy yearbook! More information to come!

Back To School Night Information

You are invited to join us for Back to School Night on Thursday, August 18, from 5:30-7:00 PM. Learners are welcome to attend, but it is not mandatory. At Back to School Night, you will have an Open House opportunity to view the school, meet facilitators, and renew relationships with fellow CSA families. To help keep the volume of people reasonable we have set up the schedule below, but please attend when your schedule permits. We look forward to seeing those of you who choose to attend!

  • 5:30 PM: Families with last names beginning A-H
  • 6:00 PM: Families with last names beginning I-M
  • 6:30 PM: Families with last names beginning N-Z

I will be sharing additional information about our communications plan at CSA in the future, but I believe I’ve given you plenty to think about for now. I’m so excited to greet your learners at school tomorrow for an exciting school year, and I look forward to meeting all of you throughout the course of the year. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me should you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Katie Dutton
