Colorado SKIES Academy Families,
It was so great to celebrate our learners and staff at Boondocks last week and see the excitement from our 6th graders at their hot air balloon flight! We also hosted the Mission2orbit team via Zoom, where they announced the winning space experiment! Congratulations to the 6th grade team of Owen Cunningham, Kian Scheiber, Grayson Buske, Liam Purviance, and Lilly Sturm for submitting the winning idea! Their Ecosystems in Microgravity space experiment will now be finalized by the scientists at the University of Oxford to prepare for launch to the International Space Station later this year!
Thank you to our phenomenal parents and community for all of the amazing items donated in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week! The delicious breakfasts, lunches, and fun grab-bag goodies are so appreciated, and the CSA staff thanks you immensely for your generosity and kindness!
We conclude the end-of-year experiences for 7th and 8th grade this week with the glider flights on Monday and iFly indoor skydiving on Tuesday. Please be sure to check the calendar for the updated times for the Presentation of Learning events this week. We hope that 7th-grade families will join us on Wednesday, May 15th, for the 7th Grade Presentation of Learning: Mutations/Microgravity. Thursday, May 16th, is the 8th Grade Presentation of Learning: Glider Planes, and Friday, May 17th, is the 6th Grade Presentation of Learning: Poetry Slam.
Friday, May 17th, is also the 8th grade graduation and our CSA Learners of Merit ceremony that will take place immediately after school at 1:30 next door at Exploration of Flight. Please note that we’d like all learners to attend the celebration so you can either join us there or pick your learner up from EoF at 3:00 pm.
CSA Charter Authorization Transfer Update: We are thrilled to share with you that the CSI staff recommended a 3-year charter authorization and an automatic 2-year extension for CSA! Directors Coryell and Motley will join CSI staff at the Performance Management board committee meeting on Tuesday, May 14th, to answer any questions the committee may have. The final step is the CSI Board vote that occurs on May 21st after they hear the committee recommendation.
It’s hard to believe that there are only two weeks remaining in the school year. We look forward to continuing the positive momentum and implementation of the improvements necessary to continue to provide the gold standard of project-based learning and social-emotional learning that our kids deserve. Thank you for your continued patience and support, and please keep an eye on our CSA Community Calendar for fun events and activities to be held over the summer.
Have a great week!
In gratitude, Directors Coryell and Motley
