Important Announcement: Food Delivery at CSA

Hello CSA families,

There has been a recent string of outside food and drinks being delivered to the school, either by parents or by a food delivery service. We are asking you to please cease and desist from this practice for several reasons.

First, in our Family and Learner Guidebook, it states:

Food Service: CSA partners with the Charter School Institute to provide free breakfast and lunch options for all our learners. Snacks and additional meals can be purchased using a learner’s Titan Fee account. Families are welcome to send lunch to school. Learners do not have access to a refrigerator.

Secondly, delivering outside food to a closed campus brings up several concerns, listed below:

  • Safety concerns: Strangers coming onto school grounds to deliver food can be a safety risk especially when dealing with minors.
  • Disruption to class: Deliveries can disrupt class time and create commotion as students wait for their food.
  • Logistics issues: Managing food deliveries for students can be difficult for our already small school staff. Our school does not have the facilities to properly store and handle delivered food, especially if it requires specific temperature control.
  • Equitable school lunch program: CSA provides free breakfast and lunch to all learners, regardless of economic status. Some students might not have access to food delivery services, creating inequity.

Lastly, our School Food Authority has a non-compete rule meaning that bringing in outside food during food-serving periods is a violation of our contract and therefore puts our food program in jeopardy.

If food must be brought in, it can only be brought an hour before or an hour after the food-serving period. This must be pre-arranged with the front office and administration before outside food will be allowed to be served at Colorado Skies Academy.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter, and feel honored that you chose Colorado Skies for your learner.

Thank you for being part of our school community,
Campus Director Meredith Motley
