Health Office: Update About Mask Requirements

The Tri-County Health Department announced Monday, January 31, that it will not renew the school mask mandate when it expired on Friday, February 4. Therefore, starting Monday, February 7, masks will be strongly encouraged but not required for learners, staff, facilitators, and visitors at Colorado SKIES Academy.

Vaccination continues to be the most effective strategy for preventing the spread of COVID-19 and severe illness or hospitalization from the virus. You can find information about where to get the vaccine or booster here. In addition, we have KN95 and surgical-grade masks available for learners or staff who want them.

We realize that the CSA family may have varying opinions regarding this decision. We will continue to follow Tri-County Health Department (TCHD) and Cherry Creek School District guidelines and provide support for all families. Learners will be encouraged to respect individual and family decisions regarding this matter positively.

Colorado SKIES Academy continues to see a decrease in the number of reported COVID cases along with the rest of the state. Please help us continue this trend by keeping learners home when they are sick and not returning to school until symptoms have been resolved.

Please make sure to keep your learner home if they are not feeling well or have two or more minor symptoms that last more than 24 hours, or one major symptom that lasts over 48 hours. Also, please keep your learner at home if they have had a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea. They may return after being symptom-free for 24 hours without medication to alleviate their symptoms. Please continue to report any COVID exposures/confirmations to If you have a pending PCR test for your learner, please keep them home until the results have come back and been communicated with Sarah Phillips. Each household can request four at-home COVID tests for free by clicking here.

CSA will continue to send letters to families when students are in a classroom with a positive COVID-19 case. In addition, we will continue to keep our data tracker on the website updated with cases that are reported to us and have an impact on the school. Please visit the Tri-County Health Department website for a complete picture of how many COVID-19 cases we have in our community.

We will continue to run our additional air purification systems, clean high-touch surfaces, and emphasize hand washing. No-cost PCR tests continue to be available through COVIDCheck Colorado and health care providers.

Thank you again for your continued support. We appreciate your partnership in keeping all learners safe and in school during these challenging times. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
