Flight Crew Spotlight: Rachel Sohns, Language Arts Facilitator

Hello! My name is Rachel Sohns. I am so excited to be in my 14th year in education and to be a language arts facilitator here at Colorado SKIES Academy! I grew up in Sherman Oaks, California, and moved to beautiful Denver after earning my bachelor of arts degree in history and sociology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I began my teaching career in the Los Angeles Unified School District, but I missed Colorado, so I returned about 10 years ago. Currently I live in Aurora with my husband, Ray, and our two dogs, Bowie and Teddy. In my free time, I love to cook, read, go to concerts, and walk my dogs.

What is it about Colorado SKIES Academy that attracted me to pursue working here?

Colorado SKIES Academy is such an exciting and new program! I am thrilled to be a founding facilitator in this endeavor. I love that learners are challenged to create hands-on projects and use their creativity and knowledge and that I’m able to learn along with them.

What would learners be surprised to know about me?

Learners would be excited to know that I have traveled all around the world on Semester at Sea, and I have experienced over 20 countries!
