CMAS Testing Information

We are so happy to be finished with the first big round of testing for our students! All that remains is our 8th-grade Science test and some makeup testing for all grades. Below you can find an adjusted list of notes and schedule for this week:

    • 6th and 7th graders will have classes, as usual, all week long. Learners who have not been exempted from testing and who need to make up a session will be pulled from their classes as needed this week
    • 8th graders will have classes, as usual, Tuesday – Friday
      • Monday, 4/10 is Science CMAS testing for all 8th graders. If you decide to exempt your 8th grader from this test, please keep them home on Monday only
      • 8th graders who need to take makeup tests will be pulled from class starting Tuesday to do so
  • 8th Grade Parents: in order to best meet the requirements of these tests, please keep your learner’s cell phone, smartwatch, etc. at home on testing days!
  • On testing days, learners must enter through the front office and surrender any electronic devices before entering the building.
    • All devices will be stored in a bag labeled with the learner’s name to ensure proper and orderly storage and return.
    • The state does not allow learners to have access to electronic devices in between testing sessions, so learners will get their electronics back at the end of the day.

Scheduling Notes:

  • Monday, April 10
      • Grades Testing: 8th grade only – if your 8th grader has been exempted from testing, please keep them at home!
      • Activity: No planned activity or learning after testing
      • Dismissal Time: Learners may call for early pickup after their group is finished testing (after 1:30 pm)
  • Tuesday, April 11
    • Grades Testing: 8th grade only (very few learners; only those with “extra time” accommodations on state tests)
    • Activity: No planned activity; learners may rejoin classes after they’re finished
    • Dismissal Time: Learners who are testing may call home for early pickup once they’re finished testing. They may stay for their classes. They will be pretty tired and we recommend they go home after testing as they will be excused from their classes if they go home.

Exemptions:

If you must exempt your learner from state testing, please log in to your my.cherrycreekschools.org parent portal and click on the “State Assessment Exemption” tile. You may exempt your learner from all testing or just certain subjects. If you are struggling to get access to the Parent Portal at that web address, try resetting your password by clicking on “Click Here” under “Reset Parent Account Password.”
