Charter Renewal Update

It brings enormous joy to announce that CSA’s responsibilities in the Charter Renewal process have been completed! We submitted our initial Charter Renewal Application to CCSD on December 1 as well as an Addendum to our application (responding to feedback received from CCSD on December 21) on December 13 when we had an opportunity to present our application to the CCSD Board of Education in a public work session.

Our presentation went well, and allowed us to speak to the high-level strengths and challenges our school has been facing as well as how we are planning to meet these challenges going forward. During the meeting we got positive feedback on the thoughtfulness and thoroughness of the presentation, which was great to hear! (In the interest of transparency we wanted to make all of these documents openly available to our families, so use the links above to view the actual documents that were submitted and presented to the district. Additionally, you can find the documents on our CSA website: About menu >> Board & Public Information >> Charter Renewal Documents button).

Now that our work is done, we are waiting to hear back from the district about their ultimate decision regarding our charter for the 2023-24 school year and beyond. At the latest we will have this information by February 14, as the decision is set to be announced at the CCSD Board meeting held the evening of February 13. At this point, we have put our best foot forward and done all that we can to ensure that CCSD has knowledge of and can consider all the information about our school as they weigh their options and make their decision. Now we must let go of the process and ultimate decision as they are outside of our control. As with any decision outside of our control, we are preparing and strategizing for all outcomes and will announce next steps once we hear the district’s decision.

While we are still a new school, we have overcome tremendous challenges since our infancy and have used the lessons learned to build more purposeful and robust systems and plans for the future. Like any business, CSA will continue to present its own unique challenges, but we are growing into a more mature and settled institution that can provide a wealth of amazing learning opportunities to our community.

I am excited to see what the future holds for us, and hopeful that the district will see fit to allow us some more time to grow our school into an even more amazing and mature version of itself in the coming years. Thank you for your support through the first half of this year, as well as throughout this daunting process.  We couldn’t do it without you!
