90-MINUTE DELAY on Tuesday, January 21

Colorado Skies Academy will be on a 90-MINUTE DELAY on Tuesday, January 21, due to forecasted low temperatures in the morning.

The wind chill is expected to be well below zero at daybreak tomorrow. In that environment, frostbite is a very real risk for any exposed skin. A delay will give temperatures a chance to rise so that we don’t have kids and staff outside during the cold early morning hours. Thankfully, temperatures are forecasted to warm up during the day, with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s.

A 90-MINUTE DELAY means that school is delayed by an hour and a half.

  • CSA will open for drop-off at 9:00 a.m.

As always, in the case of inclement weather, we respect the decision of our parents to keep their children home, if needed - this will be an excused absence. If you choose to do so, please report the absence using the online form or by calling CSA.

Safety is a top priority, and we will keep in close contact with CCSD to monitor the storm and the road conditions. We will provide any updates on our website and social media.

A Message from the Director

Dear CSA Families,

We have some important events coming up. Please see some of them outlined below.

Save the date! Our next Presentation of Learning is Thursday, February 13, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Holding it on a full school day will be different than what we’ve done for our last POLs. Our hope is that those parents who work can either stay a bit longer when they arrive for drop-off in the morning or arrange to come during their lunch breaks.

High School Transition Night for 8th Grade Families: Counselors from Cherry Creek School District, Cherry Creek Innovation Center, the Wings Over the Rockies high school program, and others will be at CSA to provide information and answer questions for our 8th grade learners and their families. We are working on a mid-February date. Stay tuned for more information once a date is finalized.

Field Trips! Watch for permission slips for the 8th grade rocket launch field trip and the 6th grade field trip to Boom Supersonic. Help your learner attend by getting those forms filled out and back to the school. (Also: 7th grade, stay tuned…your trip is in the planning stage right now!)

Learner Leadership! Elections have been held and will be announced to all our learners this week in an assembly at Exploration of Flight.

School Dance! Our learners are organizing and promoting their own school dance, learning organization, planning, budgeting, and marketing skills. The proposed date of February 21 will be confirmed this week. More information will come once the date is set.

8th Grade Continuation! Saturday, May 22, will be here before you know it! For all our 8th grade families, please reserve that Saturday afternoon to join us in honoring our 8th grade learners as they take the next important step in their educational journey to high school.

As always, it is my sincerest pleasure to serve the CSA community alongside such wonderful learners, families, and staff members. And the continued support from the greater aerospace community is nothing short of amazing!

Warm regards,

Suzanne Acheson
School Director
