90-MINUTE DELAY on Tuesday, January 21

Colorado Skies Academy will be on a 90-MINUTE DELAY on Tuesday, January 21, due to forecasted low temperatures in the morning.

The wind chill is expected to be well below zero at daybreak tomorrow. In that environment, frostbite is a very real risk for any exposed skin. A delay will give temperatures a chance to rise so that we don’t have kids and staff outside during the cold early morning hours. Thankfully, temperatures are forecasted to warm up during the day, with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s.

A 90-MINUTE DELAY means that school is delayed by an hour and a half.

  • CSA will open for drop-off at 9:00 a.m.

As always, in the case of inclement weather, we respect the decision of our parents to keep their children home, if needed - this will be an excused absence. If you choose to do so, please report the absence using the online form or by calling CSA.

Safety is a top priority, and we will keep in close contact with CCSD to monitor the storm and the road conditions. We will provide any updates on our website and social media.

A Message from the Director

Welcome to the New 2020 CSA Decade!

As we look toward our role in this new decade, I look forward to what will be happening in the life of our school. If you’ve driven by, you’ve seen huge earth movers making way for our new building. We’re building a school for 375 learners, yet we all know we’re not currently servicing anywhere near that number. Recruiting more learners is exciting yet daunting. We need a team in order to build our future student body. Are you, our CSA learner-ambassadors, doing your part in sharing the good news about your school? What can you do to share the good word about what you already know about CSA? Are you, our CSA families, doing your part in sharing the good news about how the school is supporting your learner, inspiring them in their learning?

It is thrilling to see that all but very few of our learners in grades 6 and 7 are returning to Colorado SKIES Academy. Thank you all for starting or completing your re-enrollment. Please be sure to complete the re-enrollment process, submitting all the forms, etc., that are needed by January 31 to ensure your spot is there. (The re-enrollment is open right now, so you can get everything done before January 31. Please finish it up.) This re-enrollment is a testament to the culture and environment our learners, facilitators, and staff have worked hard to create together. It takes all of us to create a healthy culture!

More and more, CSA is getting the recognition it deserves. Last week, a Southwest Airlines pilot visited the school to find out more about our school. On the same day, two folks who’ve frequented Wings Over The Rockies Exploration of Flight said they’d seen a lot of changes recently at our school site. They asked a ton of questions, wanted to learn more about our school, and left wanting to share everything they learned about CSA with their friends who have middle-school-aged learners. More and more, people are watching and asking about CSA!

To all of our founding families, all of you who are with us now and have shown your belief in CSA and what can be done for your learners, you are our pioneers. You are the risk takers, willing to allow your sons and daughters to have the opportunity to sign the upcoming beams, pillars, and foundations of our new school, preserved in memoriam that they are founding learners at Colorado SKIES Academy! You allowed them to take the risk when we were just a school in modulars! What a special gift—to be a risk taker, a pioneer! To truly make a difference in being part of a new way, a new location, a new focus in learning unlike any other middle school! You will all benefit in ways you cannot even yet imagine! Go, CSA!

It’s an honor to be a part of the legacy all of us are creating: the legacy of CSA!

Here’s to a new decade and new CSA horizons!

School Director
