Hello, CSA Community!
A hearty thanks to all of our learners for their participation in the first Presentation of Learning (POL) we held in our building! They did a wonderful job, and I sincerely hope that they shared their learning with you at home. I look forward to the day when we can have families and community members attend our POLs once again.
This week was the exciting culmination of the Soar Up to Gliding project for our 8th grade learners. Even though snow delayed the schedule on October 26, all of them were able to participate in the glider flights at Mile High Gliding Field in Boulder. A special thanks to the Wings Over the Rockies/Jeppesen Scholarship Foundation, the fundraising efforts of our 8th graders, and private donations that funded this exceptional event in the life of our learners and our school. Special kudos to our science facilitator, Ms. Lucy, who did an amazing job in all the work involved.
Parent Assistance: Lunch/Recess Monitors
As we move into the second quarter, we continue to need more parents and guardians who are willing to give two hours of their day to be paid lunch/recess monitors. With parent support to supervise learners during this time, our facilitators get some much-needed planning time and scheduled office hours to support learners when they are working on assignments in Study Hall. Please contact Assistant School Director Josh Rau if you have some time you can give.
November Happenings
Please note that one Colorado SKIES Academy tradition is to celebrate our veterans by taking Veterans Day, November 11, off. During a normal, non-COVID year, we would also host a special event for all of our CSA community who have served in the military for this great nation. Though we can’t celebrate that event this year, we hope to be able to again next year.
CSA also celebrates time with friends and family and schedules the entire Thanksgiving week as time away from school. Please refer to the CSA calendar for additional details.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with your learner(s), watch them grow and learn both academically and socially. Negotiating the middle school years is a challenging time. Please know that we enjoy walking alongside your learner(s) to help them become the best they can be.
Warm regards,
Suzanne Acheson
School Director
