90-MINUTE DELAY on Tuesday, January 21

Colorado Skies Academy will be on a 90-MINUTE DELAY on Tuesday, January 21, due to forecasted low temperatures in the morning.

The wind chill is expected to be well below zero at daybreak tomorrow. In that environment, frostbite is a very real risk for any exposed skin. A delay will give temperatures a chance to rise so that we don’t have kids and staff outside during the cold early morning hours. Thankfully, temperatures are forecasted to warm up during the day, with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s.

A 90-MINUTE DELAY means that school is delayed by an hour and a half.

  • CSA will open for drop-off at 9:00 a.m.

As always, in the case of inclement weather, we respect the decision of our parents to keep their children home, if needed - this will be an excused absence. If you choose to do so, please report the absence using the online form or by calling CSA.

Safety is a top priority, and we will keep in close contact with CCSD to monitor the storm and the road conditions. We will provide any updates on our website and social media.

A Message from the Director

Dear CSA Families,

Steel is sprouting from the ground with our new building!  We are having a wonderful uptick in tours, shadow days, and enrollments. Please know that it is important that you are doing your part in promoting our school and sharing the positive, good news, so we can hit our projected enrollment number of 250 learners for next year. At that level, we can continue to grow and provide the learning experiences and fund the projects and curriculum needs at a higher level — something our learners richly deserve.

Currently we have 160 enrolled learners out of the desired 250 learners. For grade 6, we want 125 learners and currently have 56 enrolled. For grade 7, we want 75 learners and currently have 64 enrolled. For grade 8, we want 50 learners and have 39 enrolled. Now is the time to tell your friends to check out Colorado SKIES and enroll!

In the past few weeks, there was a problem with PowerSchool, our student information system that we purchased from Cherry Creek School District, that affected many parents, not just ours. That issue has now been rectified. So if you are still having trouble getting into PowerSchool to check attendance, grades, missing assignments, etc., please contact the main office and we will gladly clear up the issue for you.

Public charter schools (and all public schools, for that matter) do fundraising on a regular basis. It is especially important for public charter schools because they do not have a district infrastructure for a lot of the incidental costs a school must cover.  On Thursday, February 27, we’ll have our Fun Run, where learners will take laps around Blue Skies Exploration of Flight. If it is an unusually nice winter day, we will create an outdoor track for the learners. I am looking forward to the winners who will be taping me to the side of the modular — all for a good cause! A HUGE thank-you to everyone who is supporting one of our learners in raising money for the Fun Run! And a HUGE thank-you to JHL Contractors, who will be supplying snacks and water during the run!

Warm regards,

Suzanne Acheson
School Director

REMINDER: If you want to enroll, please complete the open enrollment here. If you have any questions, please email Bri Jones or call 720-400-7612. A tour and/or a shadow for  your son or daughter may just open the doors to an amazing opportunity for learning! If you don’t believe me, check out our Facebook page!
