Dear CSA Families,
Colorado SKIES Academy is proud to announce the appointment of Christa Coryell as the acting school director. Coryell is a familiar face within the school community, having served in various roles since the school’s inception, including four years as the CSA Board Chair.
“I am excited to continue collaborating with our CSA stakeholders and community to create educational opportunities for children that are innovative, engaging, and rigorous and encourage them to follow their dreams,” stated Ms. Coryell.
Aside from her experience leading the CSA’s board of directors, Christa has worked in corporate finance for almost 20 years in various areas at IBM. Ms. Coryell supported the Global Technology Services division as a senior finance manager. Christa has extensive experience working with school-aged children through many volunteer opportunities with IBM and direct involvement in her son’s activities.
Ms. Coryell was a Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-TECH) mentor to high school students in the St. Vrain Valley School District and was also a co-chairperson for the Discover Engineering and Innovation Academy partnerships between IBM and local schools in the Boulder area.
Christa earned a Master of Business Administration with a finance emphasis from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Arizona State University.
Coryell’s extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of the school’s staff, students, and community make her the perfect candidate. As acting school director, she will oversee the school’s day-to-day operations, ensuring students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for success.
“We are thrilled to have Christa stepping into this role,” said the school’s board of directors. “Her passion for education, combined with her deep understanding of Colorado SKIES Academy, will help us continue to provide our students with the best possible learning experience.”
To conduct a thorough search and find the best candidate for a permanent school director, the board felt having a strong interim acting director would best support this effort.
As the acting director, Ms. Coryell will support the current Director of Aerospace, Outreach, and Data, Meredith Motley, in preparing the school for a successful 2023-2024 academic school year. In addition, the school leaders will also work together to identify CSA’s permanent director.
