Dreamup Team Launch to Space Station

Director’s Message:

CSA Families,

Colorado SKIES Academy is off to an excellent start.  Can you believe that we have completed three weeks of school? Thank you for your ongoing support and feedback.

As the year continues to develop, we want to invite you to continue to partner with us.  There are a variety of ways you can become involved at CSA. Educational research continues to remind us of the value of parental involvement, especially in the middle years.  The learners are eager for approval, recognition and encouragement from all the adults in their life.

We hope you will make plans to attend the Watchdog (for dads) and PAC meetings during the following week.  Both parent organizations have an informational meeting on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 5:30 PM.  Bring the entire family as there will be pizza and a movie night for the children.

If you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance, please reach out to me.

Sincerely,

Anne Wodetzki, School Director

CMAS Results

The CMAS scores from last year have just arrived in the building. If your learner attended school with us in 2020-21 and took the State CMAS test, the results will be coming home on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Please ask your learner to share the sealed envelope with you. Current Grade 8 learners participated in English Language Arts/ Literacy and Grade 7 participated  in the Math assessment only. All CSA 6th grade learners will want to reach out to their elementary school for results.

Parent Action Committee & Watchdog News:

This past spring, a CSA EduKit program was provided to all Colorado SKIES Academy families through the PAC (Parent Action Committee). The PAC works diligently to support Colorado SKIES Academy through fundraising and special events for all learners and families. IF YOU CHOOSE, Colorado SKIES Academy PAC will accept a donation instead of a refund for your EduKit. Would you please communicate your wishes by sending an email to sarah.phillips@coloradoskiesacademy.org

PAC Volunteers

Calling all parents!  We are looking for parents to be active members in the CSA-PAC. That’s our Parent Action Committee.  We are looking to provide a strong organization to help provide extra activities and opportunities for our learners.  If interested please email info@coloradoskiesacademy.org

PAC & Watchdog Organizational Meetings

Mark your calendars for September 16, 2021 at 5:30 PM for two very important organizational meetings.  The Parent Action Committee and Watchdogs (dads/males) would like to connect with you and share their plans for the school year.  Pizza and a movie night will be provided for the learners and siblings while both meetings are in session.

Immunizations for the 2021-2022 school year:

Beginning in the 2021-2022 school year (7/1/2021), the process of submitting a non-medical exemption will change. There will be two ways to submit a non-medical exemption.

Be sure to check with your learner’s school, child care, or college/university to find out if they need a printed copy of the Certificate of non-medical exemption. If you submit to CIIS, the school can access the exemption information in CIIS, but cannot access the completed Certificate of non-medical exemption

  • Submit the Certificate of non-medical exemption WITH a signature from an immunizing provider in Colorado who is a medical doctor, doctor of osteopathic medicine, advanced practice nurse, delegated physician’s assistant, registered nurse, or pharmacist OR
  • Submit the Certificate of non-medical exemption received upon the completion of CDPHE’s Online Immunization Education Module.
  • Per Colorado Revised Statutes 25-4-2403, immunizing providers who sign the Certificate of Non-medical Exemption must submit non-medical exemption data to CIIS
  • Parents of students in preschool or child care must submit non-medical exemptions at 2, 4, 6, 12 and 18 months of age. These exemptions expire when the next vaccines are due or when the child enrolls in kindergarten.
  • Parents of students in grades K-12 claiming a non-medical exemption must submit one annually. Non-medical exemptions expire June 30th each year. If you submit a Certificate of non-medical exemption on or before June 30th, it will not be valid for the upcoming school year unless you submit the exemption during early registration.
  • Students in college/university claiming a non-medical exemption must submit a Certificate of Non-medical Exemption upon enrollment.

If your child is sick, please keep them home. Also, please report any Covid-19 exposures for your learner to the school’s health clinic. Remember if your student has a fever, diarrhea, or has vomited the night before school, they need to be kept home. They may return 24-hours after symptoms subside and without the use of fever reducers. We do not carry stock medications like Tylenol, Advil, etc. in the health clinic. Middle schoolers can carry one day’s worth of these medications on their person. The medication has to be in the original bottle with the child’s name on it (travel size works best). We want to keep our learners healthy and safe so that they may continue to excel in their learning here at CSA. Thanks for your understanding.

Report an Absence

If your learner must be away from school for any period of time, we ask that you report their absence through our school absence link.
