Greetings, Colorado SKIES Academy Families and Friends!
In preparing for this week’s Monday Message, I took a look back at the events in the December Monday Message a year ago. On December 13, we were celebrating the groundbreaking ceremony to begin construction on our new building. It was a time of excitement as we anxiously waited to be in this new school home. One year later, we are again hopeful to be in our new school home as the CSA board and administration work to make a determination for January.
Thank you to all who were able to attend the CSA Town Hall on Wednesday, December 9. The Town Hall is recorded and posted to the website under the News category. It is essential that we have your feedback, comments, and questions. The results of the parent survey and CSA staff survey will be provided to the board for their consideration as they make the decision during the December board meeting. Please note that the survey is open until midnight on Monday, December 14. As of the writing of this week’s Monday Message, over half of our families and staff have completed the survey. Thank you!
On another note, I am pleased to share that Colorado SKIES Academy was notified that we received the full award of $229,250 for the last year of the start-up Colorado Charter Schools Program Grant. This federal grant is for three years, with an annual renewal each year, and is instrumental in helping new charter schools purchase curriculum, furniture, supplies, and more items that are so necessary to properly equip a new school. This grant has funded all of our learners’ Chromebooks, curriculum, Exploratory technology, and furniture, just to name a few. With this final award, we will complete our purchase of the rest of the technology, school furniture, and equipment for the Makery.
As we enter our last week of school before the holiday break, I am confident that we will have learners back in the building at the start of the 3rd Quarter, whether it is a hybrid schedule or other type of schedule. As many of your messages and emails so eloquently point out, our learners need to be back in person receiving the best we have to give them. A year ago, we broke ground on our building. Now it stands, ready to be filled with CSA learners once again.
Warm regards,
Suzanne Acheson
