Preparing for Winter Weather

We want to encourage you and your family to join us in planning for winter-related weather that could cause a school delay, early dismissal or school cancelation. Colorado SKIES Academy will be using the following guidelines to make every effort to communicate early enough for safe travel and adjustments to regular family schedules. All of our communications are based on the information you provide us in PowerSchool.

Please make sure your contact information in PowerSchool under parent forms is accurate and up to date. In the event of a winter weather watch or warning, CSA will:

  • Email, text, and call to notify all CSA families of a weather delay or cancellation.
  • Email, text, and call if there is a possibility of school closing early in the day.
  • Notify local TV & radio stations with delays, early dismissals, or closure announcements. This announcement will follow the CSA text, email, and call.
  • Cancel all after-school programs when school is closed, or an early dismissal occurs.

School closures, delays and early dismissals are decided as early as possible. Before deciding, we consult with a meteorologist and closely monitor road and weather conditions. We also consult with our authorizer, Cherry Creek School District. This decision is taken very seriously as the safety of our learners, families and staff is a top priority.
