Message from the Director

Hello Colorado SKIES Academy community!

First of all, a huge THANK YOU to all of you who supported our transition by providing contributions, man hours in putting us “all together”, getting things we needed, etc. We continue to identify and refine our school environment and, since there are no water fountains, CSA is making a special purchase of bottleless water stations for each modular, providing our learners with limitless cold (and hot) water. The water stations will move with us to our new permanent building. If you are looking for a tax deduction or a way to support CSA, you can fund a water station (or a portion of a water station) and receive a contribution letter from the school. Each water station costs $260.

We continue to follow up on our requests for student documents from learners’ prior schools. There are still some requests that have not been fulfilled, which makes it difficult for us to be sure we are meeting all of our learners’ needs.  If your learner has an IEP, ALP, or 504, please check to make sure we have received this documentation by contacting our Office Manager, Bri Jones.  Parents/guardians are always our best source of information for learners.

This week, you will receive a mid-week newsletter from all of the facilitators updating you on the projects learners are working on, the key concepts they are learning, the content standards being addressed, and a key question you can ask to promote dinner conversation with your learner. Starting next week, we will transition to the facilitator newsletter being sent in the same time frame as the Monday Message, ensuring you receive important school information and academic information in one communication.

Colorado SKIES Academy will be observing US Constitution Day this Tuesday, September 17th, when learners will have special learning opportunities and discussions. As members of a school of choice, please help us celebrate the ideals that provide you the right to choose the educational model for your learners.

Soaring the Colorado SKIES!
