Message from the Director

Hi, Colorado SKIES Families,

The school and the Board of Directors are guiding the school through a very exciting time: the process of finalizing the permanent financing for CSA’s new building. There are many, many people involved in an undertaking like this, including our board members. There is a lot of work occurring behind the scenes to ensure everything is completed so that the closing can occur and the groundbreaking will happen in November. If you happen to run into any of our CSA board members, please be sure to thank them for all of the extra hours they are putting in to support completion of this process! It couldn’t happen without them!

As I talk with our learners and facilitators, I am getting more and more excited for the Presentations of Learning (POLs) that will occur November 8-15. As the time draws closer, please be in constant conversation with your learner about when they will be presenting, because you do not want to miss it!

We are looking for volunteers — anyone who is or has been a pilot — to be trained in the flight simulators at Blue Skies Exploration of Flight. Scheduling has been a challenge, but in working with Blue Skies Exploration of Flight, if the school can provide its own corps of pilot volunteers to help, it opens up the scheduling needed to get our learners on the flight simulators.  So if you know of any retired pilots who would be willing to volunteer, or if you are a pilot yourself and want to volunteer, please contact the Main Office and identify yourself as a Pilot Volunteer, and we will guide you through the process.

Lastly, we have notified our learners through their Advisory facilitators about costumes for October 31, for those who want to dress up.  Please be sure to meet the following expectations:

  • Face paint can be over only half of the face. Please help us recognize you.
  • No masks please.
  • Please do not bring any hand props, knives, guns, wands, etc.
  • Please refrain from excessively gruesome, bloody costumes.
  • Any flight or space costumes are HIGHLY encouraged!

In the end, we want our learners to have fun, enjoy the day, and continue learning.

Warm regards,

Suzanne Acheson
School Director
