Message from the Director

Dear Colorado SKIES Academy Community,

Our inaugural week was phenomenal! Our learners experienced firsthand what an engineering design challenge is all about, from a rudimentary beginning to a much more refined end product with additional constraints needing to be met. In addition, having a field day helped further create a unique school community atmosphere unlike any other school your learner may have attended before.

As you know from the message I sent out yesterday, we will be conducting classes starting on Monday, so everyone will need to bring their school supplies. In addition, hot lunch options will also be available through Mile High Catering. Learners will experience their full schedule, including their elective classes which, I am happy to say that the vast majority of learners were able to get their first choice.  Classes will be held in the Exploration of Flight Gallery again this week, as we are still waiting for a few more items to be completed so the modulars are completely ready. We are anticipating a Tuesday, September 3, start date. I encourage you to stop in and see how we are creating classroom spaces and a unique learning environment in a hangar. You are also welcome to see the NASA Best! project that is the overarching theme each core content area connects its standards to in an active and engaging way.

With additional technical support on Tuesday through Friday, we are working to conduct NWEA MAP baseline testing in small groups. We will endeavor to ensure that the technology infrastructure will support our baseline testing goal. Baseline information in language arts and math will allow us to obtain important information about each learner, closely analyze proper grade level placement in core content areas, and make the appropriate adjustments to schedules as needed.

Your ongoing support and positive comments on our Facebook page are uplifting to the entire CSA staff and to the rest of our community! Please share with everyone you know the good news about CSA! We still have room for more learners!

Ready for Takeoff!
