A Message from the Interim Director

Greetings, Colorado SKIES Academy families,

Last week was really busy with a lot of visitors in the building. CSA hosted a Leadership Cafe, which will be used in the selection of a permanent director for the 2021-22 school year. Thank you to everyone who participated.

We have several important events coming up.

CMAS Testing

CMAS testing will be Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday, April 14

  • 6th graders: Math
  • 7th graders: Language arts
  • 8th graders: Science

Thursday, April 15

  • 6th and 7th graders: No testing
  • 8th graders: Math

All learners are required to use a school computer for testing. Cell phones, tablets, or smart watches are not allowed during the test administration. Facilitators will collect these at the beginning of testing and return them at the end of the day. Snacks will be provided to keep learners’ brains sharp! Please remind your learners to bring a paperback book.

If you wish to excuse your learner from CMAS testing, please fill out the exemption form located on the State Assessment Exemption tab at my.cherrycreekschools.org. Any learners who have opted out should not come in during testing for their grade level.

Full Day & Squadron Dance

On Friday, April 16, we have a full day from 8:00 AM-3:30 PM, and it will be a jam-packed fun-filled day. We will start the day with class pictures, so dress your best! Then we will have our very first in-school Squadron Dance from 2:00-3:30 PM. All learners will also be getting a tour of the DC3 plane over at Wings!

Learner-Led Conferences

We have Learner-Led Conferences coming up April 21-22. Facilitators will communicate with parents/guardians to invite you to sign up. The conferences will be either in person at the school or via Zoom. Our learners have been working very hard to build a portfolio to showcase their learning and celebrations, analyze data, and create goals for improvement. This is an authentic opportunity for our learners to take ownership of their learning here at CSA, and we appreciate your support as such an integral part of their development. In addition, this is a great opportunity for parents to visit the school if you are interested in doing the conference in person. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s advisory facilitator.

Spirit Week

Finally, please mark your calendars for Spirit Week April 26-30!

Thank you,

Josh Rau
