A Message from the Director

Hello, CSA!

As we begin this week, our learners will be taking the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments to determine how much they have learned since mid-September and what areas need reinforcement or review. This is an excellent tool to help us ensure that every learner will have one year’s growth for one year of instruction. It will also help us prepare learners for the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) test in April. I am excited about the prospects of seeing where our learners are, what we are doing well, and in what areas we need to improve. We did not have the opportunity to administer the CMAS test last year due to COVID. This will be valuable information for the school this year. Families, please encourage your learner to do his or her best on the MAP assessments this week. It will be a tremendous benefit for their academic growth and success. There are three assessments, and one assessment is given each day, Monday through Wednesday. Learners are assessed on reading, language usage, and mathematics. Eighth grade students also take a science assessment to help them prepare for the CMAS 8th Grade Science test.

Star Search – Change of Date – Friday, February 19

Calling all learners and parents! CSA is continuing to grow and needs to add facilitators for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. We will be conducting a Star Search on Friday, February 19, where facilitator candidates will have an interview, teach a short demo lesson to CSA learners, and be observed by staff and parents. (Please note: Facilitator candidates are required to have recent COVID test results to participate in the Star Search.) If you are interested in being a part of identifying our new facilitators for next year, please contact our Outreach Board Member Christina Jeffrey at christina.jeffrey.board@csacs.org for more details and to sign up.

Adjustments to 2020-21 School Calendar

A few calendar adjustments were needed as a result of some learner-free days that were used to successfully transition to online learning in November. Please note the following changes:

April 14 and April 15: These two days will be full school days from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Learner-Led Conferences will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. More details to come.

April 16: This was originally scheduled as a staff professional development day with no learners. It has changed and will be a routine Friday school day from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The adjusted calendar is posted on the website.

It is truly a joy to see our learners and our staff in the building. There are some amazing things happening in the classes! It is so good to get back into the rhythm of school once again.

Warm regards,

Suzanne Acheson
School Director
